hexo uses nodejs

• install nodejs - requires sudo

Node.js v14.x:

which npm

• install hexo client and server - requires sudo

sudo npm install hexo-cli -g
sudo npm install hexo-server -g

• create user to run hexo server - requires sudo

sudo useradd -m hexo_user

• create hexo

su -  hexo_user
mkdir -p ~/hexo/blog
cd ~/hexo/blog
hexo init
npm install

• cleaup - not required
• NOTE: this will delete any user added blog posts!!

hexo clean

• each time a new .md file is added to sources/_drafts/MY.md these 2 commands have to be run
• hexo new will create my-first-blog-post.md file template in sources/-drafts
• add/edit contents to sources/-drafts/my-first-blog-post.md
• hexo generate and deploy will convert the .md file in sources/-drafts into html files

su - hexo_user
mkdir -p ~/hexo/blog
cd ~/hexo/blog

hexo new my-first-blog-post
vi sources/_drafts/my-first-blog-post.md

hexo generate
hexo deploy

• install hexo theme

su - hexo_user
cd ~/hexo/blog
git clone https://github.com/iissnan/hexo-theme-next themes/next

• start server

hexo server --draft --open -i 192.168.2.21

• to initialize and add a large number of documents for posting
• assuming existing md files exist in /tmp/a
• ensure each and every file in /tmp/a follow the title/heading as documented below

for s in /tmp/a/*.md; do
  ss="${s##*/}"
  hexo new "${ss%.md}"
done

• edit each new md file in /tmp/a/… - fix the heading template

• copy the files to sources/-drafts/

• ensure the file names have - and not _

• publish all of them and check for errors

for s in sources/-drafts/*.md; do
  ss="${s##*/}"
  hexo publish "${ss%.md}"
done

• individual project initializing

hexo new adhoc_db_queries
vi sources/_drafts/adhoc_db_queries.md
hexo new adhoc_db_queries

• the format of md file tiles have to have following format

• to create html files, archive files, tags post publishing

hexo generate
hexo deploy

• installing new plugins, editing configuration file

npm uninstall hexo-generator-searchdb --save
vi _config.yml
tar -czvf ~/nginx.tgz /var/www/html/nginx/

• backup for sources/_posts

tar -czf ~/hexo.blog.tgz /var/www/html/nginx/blog/

• git repo for sources/_posts

cd /var/www/html/nginx/blog/
cd sources/_posts
git init
